1913
A cotton weaving mill is founded in Mönchengladbach by Arthur Pongs.
1967
Adam Lautenbach acquires the Arthur PONGS company. Company headquarters relocates to Stadtlohn and a new business segment is established: the distribution of textiles for visual merchandising.
1970-1980
The company diversifies by tapping into new market segments such as trade fairs, theatre or events.
1992
PONGS® acquires the silk-weaving mill in Mühltroff, Saxony and thus a full-service, large-scale production facility. Extensive investments in research, technology and human capital.
1994
Sun visors developed and production expands to include the production of textiles in widths of up to 620 cm.
1995-1996
PONGS® is the world’s first company to produce printable textiles in widths of up to 500 cm.
1999
Spotting the potential of digital printing early, the company sets up ist own R&D department including Vutek, Mimaki and D-Gen machines.
2003
Development of architectural textiles for wall and ceiling covering.
2005
PONGS® extends the production of printable knitted fabrics to widths of up to 500 cm
2008
DESCOR®, the wall and stretched ceiling system is awarded the Innovationspreis Textil und Objekt (Textiles and Objects Innovation Prize) by the Alexander Koch publishing house.
2011-2013
The PONGS® silk-weaving company becomes PONGS Technical Textiles GmbH.
2015
Fully-automated packaging facility installed at the Mühltroff plant. The topic of acoustics takes centre stage when developing new textiles. DESCOR PREMIUM acoustic, SILENCIO® or AKUSTICO® feature excellent product properties. PONGS®’ expertise stretches from the single textile to the complete acoustic solution.
2019
Together with LIVING CONCEPT Consulting, PONGS® opens the Sales & Creative Department with an exclusive showroom in the Villa Lantz in Düsseldorf. Textile architecture combining with impressive interiors, modern design and a long Düsseldorf tradition.
