The digitally printed DESCOR® stretch ceilings in Montpellier town hall impressively demonstrate the possibilities of textile architecture.
The new “Hôtel de Ville de Montpellier” presents textile architecture in a new dimension. The town hall in Montpellier, France was designed by renowned award-winning architects Jean Nouvel and Francois Fontès. Also involved were the two artists Yann Kersale and Alain Fleischer, who designed the photographic works, which are now imposingly admired on the ceilings of the entrance hall, the conference room and the council chamber. The motifs were printed digitally and in large format on high-quality textiles for stretch ceilings from PONGS® and then assembled using the innovative DESCOR® system. Thanks to the sound-absorbing properties of the DESCOR® PREMIUM Acoustic, loud ambient noises are absorbed in the large, open halls, which noticeably improves the surround sound.
